Connecting via Snowflake

Share Snowflake data with Planbase using a Direct Share or Private Listing

Written by Jack Light

Planbase connects to your Snowflake account using Secure Data Sharing.

ℹ️ This must be done by someone with the ACCOUNTADMIN role, or a role granted the CREATE SHARE privilege.

1. Prepare the data in Snowflake

  1. Your account team will work with you to help determine the relevant data needed by Planbase as part of the integration.

  2. Create secure views containing only the required rows and columns.

2. Creating the share

Use Option A if your account is in AWS us-east-1, or Option B otherwise.

When asked for a consumer, enter:

Account identifier: TESLQNZ.PLANBASE_US_EAST_1
Account locator: RCB23107

Option A — Direct Share

  1. In Snowsight, go to Data sharing → External sharing.

  2. Open Shared by your account, then select Share → Create a Direct Share.

  3. Select the views or tables to include, optionally name the share (for example PLANBASE_SHARE), add Planbase as the consumer, and select Create Share.

Option B — Private Listing

  1. In Snowsight, go to Marketplace → Provider Studio.

  2. Select Create Listing → Specified Consumers, add a title, and attach the views or tables as the data product.

  3. Set Access type to Free, add Planbase under Who can access, accept the legal terms, and select Publish.

  4. If prompted for auto-fulfillment, choose a refresh interval and warehouse.

3. Send the details to Planbase

Send your Planbase account team: the share or listing name, the database/schema/object names, a brief description of each shared object, and a technical contact.

Planbase will configure the inbound share and confirm once data is flowing.
