As part of a licensing application, you may need a CSWE ISWDRES evaluation if your social work degree was earned outside the U.S. This confirms that your degree is equivalent to a CSWE-accredited U.S. social work degree and meets the licensing board’s education requirements.
Go to the CSWE International Degree Review page and complete the ISWDRES Screening Form. Pay the $35 non-refundable screening fee.
Wait for CSWE to approve your screening. Screening results generally arrive within 2 weeks. You cannot access the full Recognition Application until your screening is approved.
Once approved, complete the ISWDRES Recognition Application and pay the application fee. The fee depends on the country where you earned your degree: $170, $380, or $610 under the current schedule.
Contact your university/social work program and have it send:
Your official transcript or mark list
A proof-of-graduation letter on university letterhead confirming your degree, graduation date, and that you graduated in good standing.
Complete the ISWDRES EPAS 2022 Competencies Form that CSWE emails you. Your social work program must also sign it. The form maps your coursework and field education against CSWE's competencies.
Wait for CSWE's determination. Once CSWE has the required documents, it reviews your degree and issues a formal determination letter if your degree is recognized. CSWE currently says to generally expect the formal determination within 45 days after all documentation is received.
